Reviewer: Stuart Lithwick ATM is likely a negative regulator of other transcription factors. EMSA assays indicate that association of transcription factor AP-1 with DNA is increased in ATM double-knockout mice relative to wild type. As well, increased mRNA expression of transcription factor osterix, and increased protein expression of transcription factors c-fos and c-jun is observed in ATM double knockout mice relative to wild type. Interaction of ATM with chromatin is observed through the fractionation of Raji cells, but only in the context of DNA repair, after exposure to ionizing radiation.
